Rory Gibson - Writer/Director
Rory is a Scottish film director and writer working in fiction and commercials. Rory’s approach to film derives from an interest in literature and philosophy, and a need to explore the complexities of human behaviour.
In 2016 he graduated with distinction from an MA in Directing from Goldsmiths University. His graduation film, and first short, Angst, premiered at the Oscar qualifying Nashville Film Festival in April 2017. It had a UK premier at East End Film Festival in London later that year.
In 2018 Rory was selected from hundreds of applicants to develop his feature film screenplay with Young Films at their inaugural development residency on the Isle of Skye. The residency, in association with Film 4 and Channel 4, saw Rory push his feature project forward with the guidance of leading industry producers, directors and writers.
Rory has been commissioned for his latest short, Dark Road, under Creative Scotland and SFTN's flagship short film scheme Scottish Shorts in 2018.
